Vertis Aviation is expanding its African operations with the addition of a charter office at Johannesburg’s main international airport and a number of new aircraft under management.

The charter office will be the first aviation charter business to take up residence at the new Fireblade FBO that opened in September 2014.

The new charter office will be run by Steve Bennetts, who previously worked for locally based operators in Johannesburg.

As well as opening up the new office, Vertis has also grown its local portfolio by taken on the management of several new aircraft.

Three additional aircraft joined the managed fleet: Bombardier Global 6000 (ZS-TDF), Bombardier Learjet 45 (ZS-OPR) and AugustaWestland AW139 helicopter (ZS-EOS).

Global 6000 ZS-TDF was delivered earlier in 2015 and replaces a 2012 build Global Express that the company previously had under management.

“The decision to open an office in South Africa was driven by growing demand for business aviation on the continent and is in line with our overall plan to grow the company internationally. We anticipate that our unique boutique approach, which provides tailored aviation services matching the specific needs of our clients, will be well-received here.

“We look forward to serving our African clients as we continue to grow our international footprint. The latest office gives us a presence on three continents and allows us to connect the world from top to bottom,” said Jeffrey Emmenis partner at Vertis Aviation.
